Hello from continued Quarantimes! Lauren and Isaac read the 1989 sci-fi (classic?) TekWar by the one and only William Shatner. Was there a war? Not actively! Were there robot boobs? Hardly! Was there a plot? Vaguely! Just sit back, disarm your lazgun, raise a plasglass, and listen to us be bored with ourselves but mostly this book.
Lauren and Isaac are back after a bit of a hiatus to bring more talking to your earholes! We read Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, which is not really like the TV show, but is definitely written by an old white guy (John Douglas with Mark Olshaker). We were shocked by how rudimentary some of the facts we think everybody knows about serial killers once weren’t so obvious, but also there was a lot of casual sexism. Fun!
For our first book of 2020, we’ll be reading John E. Douglas’s Mindhunter, which is the inspiration for the Netflix series about horrible murder and murderers. We can’t wait to get bummed out!
Lauren and Isaac read the cult classic(?) “true story” of The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson. Check here first for info on porcupines for your ears, demons pigs, and not scary at all books!
What are we reading next? Thank you for asking! We will be reading Jay Anson’s 1977 tale of a tormented family living in a house infested by a demonic force in The Amityville Horror. It is “based” on a “true” story. Will it be as un-scary as the movie? We can only hope!
